Denver, Colo., Oct. 81.—Indictments were returned against the Rev. Wal ter A. Grace, former pastor of a Catholic church In Arvada; John "Walsh, his broiher-ln-law, E. H. Me Clenahan. former federal prohibition director for Colorado, and Ben Eng lander, former federal prohibition agent, by a federal grand jury which made its report to United States Dis trict Judge J. Foster Symes, here Tuesday. Father Grace and Walsh were in dicted in connection with the trans portation into the state of liquor, through forging the name of the mother superior of the J. K. Mullen home for the aged to the application for the permit. Father Grace was convicted of the forgery in federal court here and was sentenced July 26 to two years in the federal peni tentiary at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He is at liberty under bond, pending appeal. The indictment against the clergy man and Walsh, which was returned tonight, specifically charges violation of the prohibition law by illegal trans portation and possession of liquor. The Indictment under which #the former conviction was obtained was based on the revenue law. I One indictment against McClenahan and Englander charges them with conspiracy to defraud the government through the sale of about $1,500 ' worth of articles said to have been seized in raids. Another true bill accuses them of embezzlement of the money derived from the sale. McClenahan was Indicted by the same grand jury that first indicted Father Grace. The former prohibi tlon director then was charged with having failed to pay over to the gov ernment within the prescribed time the amount of money derived from the sale of seized supplies. _ BEE CLASSIFIED AD RATES IBs per lln* e»ch flay. 1 «£ * flays 12c per line each flay. 1 or « day*. 10c per line each day, 7 day* or longar.
