: ’ State Meeting of Federated Clubs wt Beatrice Is Discussed. At the general meeting of the Oma ha Woman’s club Monday afternoon in Burgess-Nash auditorium the club voted down the recommendation from the directorate that the annual dues of the club be raised from $3 to $5. Mesdames C. L. Hempel, H. C. Sumney, C. W. Hayes and F. H. Cole, speaking in favor of the motion, expressed the belief that it would be Impossible to support a clubhouse un less the dues be raised. The club has a membership of 650. Twenty five new rnemhers wore recommended at the meeting. The club voted that $25 be sent to Louisville relief fund for sufferers from the storm. At the state meeting of Federated Women’s Clubs to be held in Beatrice, October 24-26, the Omaha club women will present the name of Mrs. L. M. Lord, past president of the second dis trict, for the office of state treas urer. Reservations for the luncheon to he given by the club Saturday at 12:15 at tho Y. W. C. A. In honor of Miss Grace Abbott, chief of the children's bureau, Department of Lt(bor, may be made with Mrs. Joseph Bushman, chairman of the house and home com mittee. Misw Abbott is enroute to Grand Island for a visit with he^ I parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Abbott. Delegates from the Omaha clubs will leave for the state meeting at Beatrice Tuesday, October 23, at 4:30 p. m. The railroad is making a spe cial rate of a faro and a half, Mrs. O. Y. Kring stated. k A luncheon will be given at the Y. W, C. A. November 6 by the current topics department, In honor of Mrs. Charles Johannes, past president of. the club who has been summering In the east. Quartet Held. Detectives this morning arrested two men and two women at Hotel Fontenelle, In connection with the theft of a Lincoln car In New York City October 10. They are May' Findel, 23; Anna Connell, 22; J.
