Topics that were suddenly thrust Into > limelight by the war and later eclipsed by the aimistlce are still in eclipse. With the exception of but two or three Instances the world war has left no print on current literature, and the reading matter of the war days is dusty from neglect, according to at taches at the library. In the fiction field the only new books which reflect the influence of the recent war are analytical English novels, dealing with post war condi tions. Voting patrons of tho public library who crave books of adventure do not seek those whose locale is the Imttflefield of France, but other types of adventure. One aftermath of the war is psycho analysis, which is still the seeming rage. The number of psychological tests to which military candidates were subjected Is said to be respon sible for this. Acquaintance with present day European conditions, which was brought on by the war, has created a new interest in the history of other centuries before the 19th and 20th, and as a result people are now read ing history backward, looking for the cause after they have learned, through their reading, the effect. “Shelves of books dealing with life after death are idle now, since people ADVERTISEMENT.
