BUS HI HLJpilESTS Governor’s Plan Being Aceept * ed by Iowa Towns—In quiries From East. Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 19.—Two Towa towns, Greenfield nnd Burlingame, were among the places from which Governor Bryun has received requests for the lower priced coal which lie is selling, he announced today. Norfolk, Iloldrcdge, I.oup City, New Castle, Neligh, Cushing, Winnetoon, Naper and Gibbon were among the Nebraska towns from which prospec tive purchasers of the governor's coal have written, ho said. Governor Bryan told newspaper men today that he had placed carload orders for coal for Milligan, Oxford and Plattsmouth, Neb. Kach of these orders was accompanied by a draft for $50 as part payment in advance, in accordance with tho g^'ernor's scheme of selling. The drafts, indorsed bv the Ne braska executive, were forwarded to Illinois and Colorado mining com panies, with whom tho governor has arranged to buy coal for $3 a ton at the mine. The governor stated today that he had received requests from one large press association and an eastern newspaper that an' outline of his coal selling plan bo telegraphed to them. He also stated that ho had received a telegram from Washington, 13. C., signed "A Preceptor," congratulating him for his activities. The governor's plan is that coal furnished by him be sold without profit, at a margin not to exceed $3 a ton over f. o. b. price at place of de livery, this amount to cover cost of handling. He floes not object to pri vate dealers adding $3 a ton to their prices, he says, because they must make a reasonable profit. Iowa Pioneer Dies. Atlantic, la.. Sept. 18.—John F. Madison, 65, pioneer of Adair coun ty, Is dead at his home in Fontanelle, la. He came to Iowa in 1859 from Indiana, his native state.
