Nebraska com pleted plans yesterday for paying tribute to the dead chief executive of the nation, as the special train bearing the body of Warren <3. Hid ing crosses the state. From farm, hamlet, village and city. Nebraska's sons and (laughters will congregate at stations along the route of the Union Pacific as the train passes. ^B Black crape will be strung on sta , tions before which the thousands will stand with bared heads. The masses of evergreen and cypress that marked the way of the funeral party In Cali fornia will be replaced In Nebraska by the green of waving fields of corn. As honor guards In nearly every city, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and other patriotic organizations will stand at attention. The colors, draped in black, will be dipped as the train passes. Memorial services during the day will be held in nearly every city in the state. Columbus Plans Complete. Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Columbus. Neb., Aug 4—The fu neral train bearing the body of Presi dent Hardiig will be met by the entire post of the American Legion in uni form when it stops here shortly be fore midnight Sunday. Memorial ser vices will be held Sunday morning at the Federated church, when Rev Thomas Griffiths will speak on ' A Nation in Mourning ” Herbert Hahn, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and com mander of the local American Legion post, notified legion commanders at M all stations between Columbus and r Grand Island to have their men pres ent when the train passed through. In accordance with a telegraphic request received from J. Ed. C. Fisher of Beatrice, state legion commander. The men will stand In uniform at at tention. with colors dipped and draped in black. Union Pacific trainmen were noti fied that all trains or engines seeing the approach of the death special shall come to a full stop and no whistles are to be blown or bells sounded until the train has passed end that trainmen-shall remove their hats If out of doors. Fremont to Pay Tribute. Fremont, Neb.. Aug. 4.—A solemn tribute la planned b\r the American Legion and patriotic organizations when President Harding’s funeral train pauses in this city early Monday morning. Overland trains halt in Fremont to replenish their water sup ply, and during this Interval the peo ple of Fremont will turn out en masse in homage to the deceased chief exec utive. Commanders Cash Reynolds of the American Legion and W. S. Macy of the Veterans of Foreign Wars have ^ Issued orders to all members. The ^ Spanlsh-American veterans will also Join in the tribute. Mayor Larson plans a proclamation for a period of silent prayer as the train halts in this city. Ministers of all churches in Fremont will pay tribute to the nation’s deceased leader Sunday. Norfolk Will Toll Bells. Norfolk, Neb.. Hastings, Neb,, Aug. 4.—Enthuslas tic endorsement of the supplemental water project and the promise to sup port it in congress were given by Representative L. C. fihreve of Penn sylvania in an address at a meeting of Hastings business men. Mr. Shreve was en route home from an inspection of all the pending fed era! irrigation projects of the west After looking over the supplemental water project of south central Ne braska. he said this one impressed him most of all. "It is ridiculous not to apply the surplus water of the Platte river to this region, rather than to let it help swell the cost of flood control of the lower Mississippi river," Mr. Shreve said. Two Special Trains of Eagle Lodgemen to Pass Through Two special trains carrying approxi mately 260 members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles to the national con vention at Denver, to be held next week, will arrive in Omaha over tha Great Western railroad Sunday after noon at 2:30. The first train will carry delegates from Canton, Toledo and Dayton, O.; Anderson, Kokomo and Indianapolis, Ind.: Boston and Chicago. The second train will carry Eagles from Scotts dale. Pa.; Akron, Zanesville and Cleveland, O.; New York and Chi cago. Come Back Club Formed for Kearney Anniversary The Kearney Hub and the chamber of commerce have organized a Come Back club to extend an Invitation to former residents of the city to return home for the 15th anniversary cele bration to be held the week of Sep tember J1 to 14. The club is urging former residents of the city to write of their progress in new locations and a list of former residents and their new addressee, as well as many of the letters, will be published September 8. Supreme Court Holds Marriage Pact Void Auburn. Cal . Aug. 4 — A contract of marriage made by the parents In Japan, while the parties to the con tract were residents of the United States, although valid under the laws of Japan, is void in this country, ac cording to a decision rendered in the superior court here today by Judge J. B Landis, in an action brought by Tsure Yoshikawa, an American citi zen, against Takeyoshi Yoshikawa. The plaintiff. 18 years old, testified that she was born In California and had never been out of the state. Whea she was M, she testified, that her father met the father of her Japa nese husband in Japan, and the par ents then entered Into a contract of marriage for their children, according to the laws of Japan. When abe waa 18, she told the court, that she be lieved she was the wife of the defend ant, and went to live with him. She remained but seven days, she testi fied. having been informed that the i marriage eat not legal tn the United State* She brought auit to have the marriage annulled or declared void.
