School for Deaf i jj Graduates Want New Management Removal of Superintendent Booth for More Efficient Man Asked in Petition. Petition asking the state board of control to remove F. W. Booth, su perintendent of the Nebraska School Cor the Deaf, and to substitute a ("hunger and more aggressive man, vas circulated during a reunion of former students of the school held In Omaha. Those who signed the resolution Wntetjd that the school is not main taining its former higlj standard. Mr. Booth declared that the peti tion, which he says was signed by only a comparatively small number of graduates, is not an expression of the alumni association as an asso ciation, and that Its circulation was instigated by a discharged employe. Repairs Are Needed. “I do not understand that anyone has any fault to find with the school as a school, “Mr. Booth said, “but that objection is made to lack of building repair, and matters of that sort. The school management and the board of control have found It necessary to exercise economy In this respfect, but hope for Improvements along this line from an appropriation niade available by the last legisla ture. “As for the school's scholastic Standard, it sends more students to Gnllaudet college at Washington, D. •<2., the national university for the deaf, than any other school in the country. Six students from the Ne braskg school made application this year, and every one passed his en trance examination with a creditable grade. This is an excellent record.” President Not a Signer. Mr. Booth declared that Mrs. Ota Blankenship of I.incoln, Neb., presi dent- of the alumni association, had Jiothing to do with the petition. Tlje petition follows : “We the undersigned members of the Alumni association feel that our iChobl is falling away from ^•fur ther* high standard. We know this is duo to the inefficiency of the triaitigement. We accordingly re Om.it the board of control to appoint «- younger and more aggressive man to the suporintendency of the jt-iu^ii. We take pride in our school •ndjwant to see it rank with the best ii this country.” Auto lnief Suspects : Arrested at Hayti, S.
