Mich, Juna 2.—Roscoo Conkling Fitch of Lurtington was pre paring to go to Chicago today, ready, ho said, to substantiate toe story he told here yesterday to representa tives of the ftate'g attorney’s office from Illinois to the effect that Leigh --- ton Mount, (supposed to hove Leen slain during a class rjsh at North western university In 1921, in rrality lad committed suicide. Fitch's statement, made here in the piesenee of the attorneys and his father, Virgil A. Fitch, prosecuting attorney of Mason county, Michigan, is said to have been based on a letter written by Mount to Doris Fuchs, a girl friend, and on reports said to have been stolen front the Burns IctectivS agenry. _ Man Believed Notorious Bandit Killed in Gun Fight By International News Service. Ottawa, Kan., June 2.—One man. believed to be “Red Cloud” Strough, notorious Oklahoma-Kansas bandit, is dead today following a gun battle be tween Strough and two other alleged motor bandits and police. Odlcers went seeking the bandits following reports that several motor ists had been held up early today across the line in Oklahoma. Three men in a stalled car refused to an swer questions and a battle followed in which Strough was killed, the two others fleeing. Posset are seeking them. In support of his claim Senator Carpen ter called attention to the fact that during the recent legislative session, in one day he received 210 letters, 15 telegrams, several long distance phone ■ alls and attended four committee hearings besides the regular session of the senate.
