The Yankees did all of their storing in the third inning "Babe” Ruth getting off to a lusty start in his 1923 home nm campaign by driving into (tie right field bleuCTicrs for the cir cuit, scoring Witt and Dugan ahead of him. Bob Shawkev, veteran Yankee hurl ing star, pitched brilliantly, holding Jhe Red Sox to three hits, one of which, a triple by McMillan, scored rhe only Boston run in the seventh. "Bob" Roper in a 10-round bout. The Herman Roper bout will lie one of three 10-round contests to be staged by Douglas county post of the Ameri can Legion. Herman iias participated in and won four bouts in Omaha. He knock ed out "Soldier Jim" yfarples, Emil Engberg and Andre Anderson and won the decision over ' Farmer" Lodge. In Roper, Herman meets one of the most experienced ring men in the heavyweight division. He has fought every* good man except Champion Jack Dempsey and has never been knocked out. Roper's only preious experience in Omaha was against Andy Sehmuder. whom he decisively trounced here July 4, 1921.
