New Animal Home. Unique Building, Open Next Week Public Invited April 2 to Visit and View All Comforts It Holds for Four-Footed Friends in Trouble. Nebraska Humane society is now in possession of its new quarters, the animal shelter located at Twenty-first and Izard strerts. which will bo open ed to tire public Monday, April 2. Tlio building is designed like an Knglish manor house, of red brick with white eaves and trimmings. On the first floor are located the genera! offices, the animal kennels, a kitchen, bath and hospital. Outside is the court, surrounded by a high white fence. The two wings of the hunlding are runs, and in one corner is the Isolation ward for diseased an imats. Tlie garage is connected with the remainder of the building by a roof over tlis driveway. On the second floor are the caretak er's apartment, an assembly room and the offices of the children's protective ^ division. The building was designed by George Prinz, is unique among build ings of its sort and permits of ex pansion. Hearings on Arkansas Rail War Concluded By Aflmflatnl I’rm. Harrison, Ark., March 24.—Hearing of the ‘‘citizens’ side’’ of disorders along the line of the Missouri & North Arkansas railroad incident to the strike of railway employes which culminated January 16 in the lynch ing of E. C. Gregor, a striker, was concluded before a joint committee of the Arkansas legislature here and announcement marie that the com mittee. after considering the testi mony. would report its findings to Governor Thomas C, McRae. Dirty witnesses were heard during the hearings here, which began last Tuesday. Their testimony was in support of the contention that the “uprising” of citizens along the road and the formation of “citizens’ com mittees” was a necessary measure to terminate the strike and was due to threatened financial ruin which it was feared would be caused to the section served by the road because of the suspension of operation ns a result “4 a series of bridge burnings and t»««er depredations. One of Denver Mint Bandits JSow in Mexico. Woman Says Albuquerque, N\ M., March 24.— Dne of the men implicated in the theft of $200,000 from a federal re serve bank truck in front of the Den ver mint December 16, 1922, was in Juarez a few days ago and is now there or has gone further into Mexico, according to a purported confession made to Chief of Police J. R. Galusha of Albuquerque by Pearl Cockrell, slias Pearl Ward, who Is under arrest here for investigation in connection with the robbery. In her alleged confession, Chief Galusha said, the Cockrell woman stated that she had fled from Denyer into Mexico to escape the Denver police. She also stated she had met one of the mint suspects while she was in Mexico. She refused to di vulge the man's name, but Galusha declared that further statements she made indicated clearly that the man she referred to was Roy Sherrill and that she accompanied him to Mexico. Contractor Is Arrested in Chicago Bank Crash Chicago, March 24.—II. D. Wolin sky, a contractor, was taken into custody by operatives from the state attorney's office list night in connec tion with the failure, a few days ago, of the Sixteenth Street State bank. Samuel W. Maltz. former president of the bank, named Wolinsky as the man who secured a woman’s signature on mortgagee which the bank accept ed in real estate transactions. Wo linsky, according to assistant state’s attorneys, admitted procuring the ’ dummy” signatures. Prosecutors said they expected to go before the grand jury next Mon day and ask for an indictment of Maltz and possibly of several others connected with the bank on charges of conspiracy. Radio Fans to Be Judges in Intercollegiate Debate Newark. N. J., March 24.—Inter collegiate debating by radio will get its first tryout Saturday night from a broadcasting station here. Students of the New York univer sity and Trinity college of North Caro lina are scheduled to hold forth on the soldier bonus with the Southern ers taking the affirmative aide. The radio audience will act as judges and will be asked to write their opinions. Prince Goes to Legion Ball and Has “Wonderful” Time London, March 24.—The prince of Wales last night attended the hall of the American Legion in London.
