Realtors Turn Sleuths and Nab Alleged Con Man c; Prisoner Believed by Police to Have Fleeced Omaha Real Estate Men Out of Hun dreds of Dollars. _ Members of the Omaha Rent IN j itate board turned sleuths Friday and Joined Detectives Liokert and Treglia in arresting John Nelson, al leged confidence man, who police say fleeced several Omaha realtors out of large sums of money. N'< Ison's scheme, according to the ; detectives, was to approach a real es-1 tate man and advise him that he wish * v eel to buy some acreage near Omaha, | ‘as he planned to move from his ranch in Montana. After looking at several pieces of acreage he would express an intention to purchase one and tender a check for $600 drawn on an Omaha bank as a first deposit. Said Draft Was on way. "Now don't cash this check for a couple of day*," he would tell the leal estate man, "for I haven't made niy deposit yet. A draft for $9,500 Is j on Its way to the bank now.” But before he left he would ask the realtor to cash a “email check" for him, usually for $100. When the real estate board heard of Nelson’e activities Leo B. Bozell, eec letary of the board, notified every realtor in the city and Council BlufTs. Nelson's visits to the realtors were then followed and Friday the of ficials of the board decided to arrest him. H. S. Manvllle, a realtor, who was visited by Nelson, took him to see some acreage near Benson and on his «ay Into the city asked Nelson to wait for a minute until he telephoned his office to see whether there were any calls for him there. Instead, Man * villa called Secretary Leo Bozell who i notified Detectives Treglia and Lick ert who were walling at the office of the Ilansen Investment company. The detectives met Manvllle and Nelson on their return to Manville's office and plnced Nelson under arrest. Police said Friday that real es-■ late men were fleeced out of several hundred dollars by the alleged con fidence man.
