Animal That Flwl Stockyards
Routs Family From

They didn't care for mud or rain,
for they were cowboy and cowboy
are known for their disregard of the
leather.
I tli mud and rain Saturday a
group of boy and tome grown folks,
too, who reside In the vicinity of
27l'0 South Thirteenth street, scurried
and scampered about, most of then-,
carrying homemade lariats.
They were on a "wild steer hunt!"
Up and down the muddy slope of
the "hollow" at Thirteenth and Ban
croft street they searched In vain
for ttie wild steer that escaped from
the stockysrd last Sunduy morning.
The hunt ha been going on since
that time, but the Interest reached
lis climax yesterday afternoon when
the steer swooped down on the yard
of 1. II. Council. 2770 South Thir
teenth strei t, and took possession of
the domicile. The Councils sent out
an S. O. S. call, but by the tlmo the
nmiy of homemade cowpunchei ar
rived the steer hud decided to move.
Th hunt continued until It became
m dark that the huntei wer afraid
they mlfc'ht mistake each other for
the animal. Even the police wer'
tailed to help. i;mciKncy Officer
