He waH tickled almost to Uouth with hlH good luck. "Allio same, me catohlo big fish and we have muehle fish to eat," cried the little fellow an ho tied a stout strln gto the hook. "Ah nay!" snickered tin: Dunce. "You couldn't catch a blackberry seed if mime one handed It to you inside n blackberry." "Allio same, me ratehio you If yon don't Iookie out," cried the Chinaman, and, waving the hook over his head, he chased the" Dunce around until the little follow had to climb n ragweed for wifely. The Chinaman found u small pleco of meat for bait, and throwing the hook over his shoulder, ho hurried to the crook near the Teenle Weenie village. The little fisherman cllmlieil out on the branch of a tree which lay In the water, where he dropped bis hook in and walled patiently for a fish to bite. "Allle mime fish he must be takln' sleep or maybe ho way on picnic or him not hungry," tmittcied tho Chinaman when ho had waited a long time for fish to bite without success. "Allle name me wait; maybe he come home after while." It was a warm day and presently the Chinaman began to nod in the warm sunshine. "Now it the time," whispered the Dunce to himself, who had been watching the Chinaman for Home time, and, crawling out from beneath a fern, where he had been hidden, he cautiously waded out into the water. The water soon grew deep and the Dune had to Hwiin, but be swam ho Hilently the nodding Chinaman never heard him. The Dunce swam out to the place where the stick dropped into the water, and here he was able to bide unseen by the Chinaman Hitting above. "I'll make the Chink think In caught a whale." giggled the Dunce, and, reaching out, he caught the line and gave It a Jerk. Although the Chinaman was dozing, he held the fish line tightly, for It wan wrapped around bis wrist. When he felt the Jerk on the lino the Chinaman wan awake itiHtuntly, and. thinking he had caught a flub, he gave a mighty heave on the line. He lorn his balance ntid Ml with a great splash Into the water. In a second his little yellow face popped out of the water and he began swimming for shore. Ht 1)1 tightly holding to the flnh line. When tho Chinuman reached shallow water he began pulling with all hit! mighty thinking he had hooked a big fish, for he could not tee the Dunce, who w.ih well hidden, behind the old Btlck. The frantic tugs on the lino by the Dunce In trying to free himself, mado the excited Chinaman feel sure ha had hooked a fish, and the Utile fellow began to shout loudly for help. "Ifelpio! Police! Murder!" screamed the excited Teenle Weenie." "Kliek! Kllckl Ilelple Help" Several of the Taenia Weenies heard the shouts and came running at the top of their speed. "Hold tight. Chuck," shouted the Cook. "We'll help you," and, dashing into the water, the little fellows caught the line and gave a mighty pull. Now the Dunce was barely able to cling to the e1e of the stick and when the Teenle Weenies jerked the lino he lost his grip and was dragged Into sight by the seat of his Teenle Weenie trousers. The astonished Teenle Weenies' eyes nearly popped out of their heads when the Dunce came Into view, and then they laughed how they laughed. The cook laughed so hard he fell Into the creek and nearly strangled before he was dragged out. "Fo' do land's sake, Chuck!" laughed Oogo. "What fo' you all 'speck to retch wid de Dunce fo' bait?" "What you allio time doln' on my hookie?" cried the Chinaman angrily, for he was Quite put out at finding the Dunce on his hook. , "SSSSay," sputtered the Dunce, spitting out a mouth full of muddy water. "Say! .Ilmlny crickets! I was Just goin' to have a little fun with the Chimimnn and he h-h h hooked me. I swam out whore he was finhln' and gave his line a little pull and, say, he ho hooked me somehow. I was Just goin' to fool him a little and the hl.uned hook caught me In-infn tho pants." "Allle samo when me fishin' you keep off my hookie, Just tho sarnie," grouted the Chinaman, glaring at the Dunce. "Ifcin't worry, your highness," answered the Dunce, making a mock bow.
