The national board of farm organizations hn launched a move to secure amendment of the administra tion of the federal farm loan ban system. Secretary of the Treasury Mellon hus been urged by the commit tee to support enlargement of the maximum gum which may be bor rowed from $10,000 to $26,000 and to umond the rules bo farm loan ssaocla tluns comprising the bun Its may elect their own directors. Till effort to aid In extending credit to the farmer is but part of u general realization of the fact that farmers' credit is an all Important thing In affecting agricul ture. K.irly sale of federal farm loan bonds wns urged upon the secretary of the treasury in order that stock holders of tho 12 federal land banks may secure a voice In their manage ment as provided In the original loun act. It was -pointed out to tho secretary that under a legislative amendment in 1 918, when Secretary McAdoo Was authorized to purchase large holdings of federal farm bonds, so their sale might not conflict with the sale of liberty bonds, the right of tjie stock holders to a voice In the land bank management was temporarily with held, tho situation now being that so long ns the treasury holds any of thl particular Issue of bonds the bor rowers will have no right to elect their land bank directors ns Is other wise provided for by law. Secretary Mellon stated that tho effect of the Amendment had not been brought to hi attention nml lie would give thoughtful consideration to the recom mendation to remedy this particular suspension in tho act. m nil Mi' Wm.
