Imporfant Changes
in Basket Bal! Rules
Physical Director Weston of the
Omaha "V," has received a copy of
the new basket ball rule book for
this coming season. Two radical
changes in the rules governing play
have been made and are expected
to result in a cleaner and faster style
of the game. Many games have
la-en won in the past by a quintet
having: an accurate free-thrower and
this point caused many arguments
relative to the strength of the teams.
The new rules are as follows:
When a technical foul Is made lh hall
Is awarded to the opponents at the point
where the foul Is commute,!, with the
rignt to put the nan Into play with an
unguarded pas. They shall not be per
mitted to dribble or shoot for a goal.
A penally area shall bo provided at
each end of the court comprising 1 h.)
space between the end line and a lino
pussing through the frei-throw Hue, or
a line passing tangent through the free
throw circle, as may bo decided. All
personal fouls committed by a team when
the opponents are In possession of tho
ball In the penalty area under their own
gnsl shall bo penalized by the award of
two fr.e throws. All other peisonal fouls
committed eiaowhere on the court or In
cither penally area when Ills ball is in
possession of tho defending team eliull I,-
penalised by the award of one free throw."
