Of the 45 hiK the But faloes collected an even den in the tint and IS tn the second, while the orphans nicked Omaha pitchers for J'K nine in the opener and the re inaindrr in the, grand finale, Hy virtue of their twin victory the HutUlori forged ahead of the i'ack rri in the standings. Thii morning the herd is camping in fourth place in the race, having moved up from fifth to fourth poaition within the last hour. Tipple on Mound. The veteran Dan Tipple muck out a many Packers in the firit game a he allowed hiti. Nine being the number of Iowani whirled by laid Tipple, Daniel aort of relaxed in the ninth inning and ai a result the visitors ftarted a rally that pretty iirar nunc l ippie e game. With the Buffaloei leading. 7 to J, at the mart of the ninth, "Chick" Mattirk's hired hand opened up a new brand ot hreworki that didn t finish poppin until they had scored three runs, Wtlson opposed Tipple and wa nicked quite freely, in fact the Buf faloei bumped him for three runt in the second inning before he knew the inning had started. Mr. Wilson forked over two more runs in the third and two in the sixth. The Packers counted twice in the second, once in the fourth and three . times in the ninth round for their total of six runs, Roetter Yanked. The second game turned out to be a swatfest. with the Buffaloes doing the swatting. Bay Roetter was trotted out at the start for the Iowans, but Ray was up in the air when he took the mound and didn't come down until he went to the club house. Roetter was yanked in the fourth after walking two Buffaloes, and Bcrkcnstock took his turn on the hill. Berkenstock'f stock was far below par. His offerings were hit to all corners of the field and other parts of the city in the five innings he pitched. , ( Roetter donated the Buffaloes four runs, two in the first, one in the sec ond and one in the third, while Ber kenstock forked tover nine runs and the same number of hits. It was a tough day on Sioux City pitchers. Sam Hyman got off a train at noon yesterday and managed to stroll out to the park in time for the second game. "Lefty" was detailed to the inound by "Cap" Lcidy and the fans. Hyman showed signs of crackin' sev eral times during the game, but suc ceeded in pulling himself together each time and finally won the game. It was- his fifth victory for the herd out of that many starts. Packers Oet 11 Hits. "Lefty" was pounded at different intervals, sometimes lightly and other times rather hard. The Packers bumped him for 1 1 hits of which four were doubles. These 11 hits were scattered all the way from the first tosthe ninth stanza and some helped to score Packers while others didn't. Mattick's employes scored one run in the first, the same number of tallies in the third, fourth and sixth and two in the seventh. They closed the se ries in this burg for 1922 by chalking up one run in the eighth just for good luck. Grantham, Griffin and Manush propelled a wicked bat in the second game. The former poled out a home run and a pair of singles out of four Lines at hat, while Griffin and Man in h each got two singles and a double, Meu carried the heavy stick for the Packers, connecting safely three times out of his five trips to the plate. The Buffaloes leave today for Des Moines where they open a three-game scries Tucday. Rain Prevents Davis Cup Finals Forest Mills. X. The Lyiich-Moore embroglio wa the atelier windup of a mighty good catd of ItoainK bout, Jack Demo sry, white heavyweight champion, tparred four round with Jark 'I hotnpton, a dutky colored gent, and Into with Andre Anderon. It seemed that the big fellow could have put either of them out whenever ha svished, but saved them from dugraee by letting them stay the limit. The first bout of the afternoon wa an eight-round affair between Harold Smith of the Chtcano stockyards dis trict and Champ Koss of Chicago, Smith had the belter of the opening session with his left jar which caused Ross' noie to bleed. The second bout brought together Billy Wells, welterweight champion of Kngland and Canada, and Dennii O'Kerfe of South Chicago m a 10 round frara. They weighed 147 pounds. Well won eaiily. Jimmy Darcy of Hie Pacific eoat came in eight pound overweight for hi 10 round bout with Jimmy flabby, who just returned from Au tralia where he set up an enviable retord. Darcy weighed 168 pounds while Clabby tipped the beam at I So. Clabby forced Darcy through the ropes on this writer' typewriter once during the bout,' but neither Darcy nor the typewriter was hurt. Darcy left-tabbed Clabby to death through most of the bout. It was Darcy's bout by a wide margin and he should have knocked Clabby cold. off (11. mar, I, atruck out: By Olasner. 4: bv Harfoot, I.
