New York. July Railroad se

the tock exchange and the pro

this quarter of the list provided the
basis for a forward movement in all
classes of stock.
Not in many a day hat the ex
change had what could be called a
distinctly rail market. Thia des el-
open loaay ana in a en was unex
pected. The niarkee yesterday had
failed to register any decided rnipree
lion regarding the improved labor
outlook tor the carriers, but there
was no mistaking that today's mar
ket indicated a firm belief that the
strike was meeting with little success.
Now and again the rail issues have
come forward to some degree of
prominence, but mainly because of
speculative enthusiasm and this, to
a large extent, has in the past been
centered in the lower Priced issues.
Today's fipttirn was primarily one in
which the investment stocks were
the chief factors.
