Mistletoe Yard
Paid Fair Price
CommLsrioncT Finds No Un
fair Marketing Practices
by Fowler Packing Co.
Kansas Gtr. lia, June 16. The
Fowler Packing company, a sub
sidiary oi Armour and company,
paid at its Mistletoe yards here a
"fan- average of the daily prices paid
for hogs on the open competitive
market," according to the proposed
findings of B. T. Hanier. commis
sioner of the United States Depart
ment of Agricalture, who this spring
heard testimony in a suit brought by
the local lire stock exchange seek
ing to close the Mistletoe yards and
1 charging unfair marketine; practices,
i In his proposed "findings of fact."
j Judge Hanier declares that: Fowlers
and Armours are packers and suo
ject to the provisions of the packers
and stockyards control act.
The Mistletoe yards have the same
facilities as public yards.
Exclusive rights are given ta cer
tain shippers to the Mistletoe yards
but no agreement is made as to the
price to be paid. These shippers are
free to ship where they please,
Hogs shipped to the Mistletoe
yards receive only water while hops
on the ublic market receive com as
we! for g-hich a c&arge is made.
The business at the Mistletoe
yards amounts to 14 per cent of the
total hog business here.
No recommendations are made in
the findings.

The Laws
AN apple bounced off Newton's head and mspired
Ji. him to evolve the Law of Gravity. The adver
tisements in this paper can give yon no less forcefully
the inside workings of the Laws of Economy.
.As sure as the apple hit Newton, the advertisements
have a personal message of economy for you.
Merchants tell you of their bargains through adver
tisements. Almost every new opportunity is offered through an
advertisement . V
Practically every unusual buy is advertised.
You save time and trouble by choosing what you want
and where to get it from the advertisements instead of
hunting all over town.
You save money by keeping up with every opportunity
to get full value in buying.
Read the advertisements regularly!
