World's Record for Home Runs
in One Inning Broken in Game
of Wichita Falls and Galveston
Wichita Falls, Tex.. June 16. The
world's record for home runs in one
inning in organized baseball was
broken in the Galveston-Wichita
Falls Texas league game here yes
terday when Galveston drove out
five homers in the fifth inning. Four
of the drives. went over the fence
and one fell inside. A high wind
aided materially in carrying the balls
over the enclosure. The previous
one-inning record was three.
Catcher Witry and Pitcher Devin
ey opened the fifth inning with drives
over the left field fence. The next
batter was retired. Third Baseman
Moore then potted one over the left
field barrier and Outfielder Hen
dricks followed with a terrific drive
which bounded off the right field
fence. The ball " bounded back
toward the infield but before it could
be recoveredl Hendricks had crossed
the plate. Second Baseman Connol
ly then lifted one over the right field
palings.
Galveston scored two more nomers
before the game ended, making seven
for. the game.

Wichita,' Kan., June 16. (Special

form here today and Wichita took
the last of the series from Omaha,
7 to 2... Omaha, by winning the
double-header Wednesday, left town
with the series tucked away with
three games. to two.
"Lefty"' Okrie was touched for
nine hits by the Izzies-and these,
combined with six free tickets, gave
Wichita enough to win. After a bad
start, Gregory settled .down and
blanked the Buffaloes, in the final
eight frames, allowing 'but three
scattered hits in that period.
Okrie also pitched good ball after
yje tirst, but the lzies, scored
enough in that inninor tot win. Omaha
started with a pair. With one out
Snedecor walked, Grantham, who
has been the hitting Icing in the
series here, cracked out a triple over
the first bag,- which scored his mate.
Manush then got a htclcy little pop
fly which fell safely arjd Grantham
scored. -. ...
Wichita came back with four.
Sims got life on an error. Wash
burn then -walked. Berger scored
Smith with a single and hast
brought in Washburn. Last went
to second and Berger to third on the
last hit. Okrie then tightened up a
little and fanned Blakesley and Mc
Dowell, but Wes Griffin swatted one
to right' for two bases, which scored
two more.
Washburn's home run made an
other for Wichita in the fourth and
a walk and hits by Smith and Ber
ger added the final two in the sixth.
Burch used two new men in the
lineup. O'Connor, who'hasn't been
hitting, was jerked for Herman.
Spencer, former , Detroit catcher,
who has been secured from Denver,
worked the game behind the plate.
