Mrs. Duer, two sons and daughter, arrived Tuesday from Flathead, Mont., and went from here to Cora, Kan., for a visit with Mrs. Duer's sister, Mrs. John Peterson. Conductor A. P. The ladies of the Catholic church will give u basket supper and dance next Monday evening, October 20, at Woodman hall. Everybody is invited to come and bring a basket. The Business College football team is in Smith Center today, where they have a stiff game on their hands. Next Friday they will play the Franklin team on the Red Cloud grounds. Wo understand that Charley Whita ker, who removed to Holly, Col., some time ago, is preparing to return to Red Cloud to live. He claims the water out there doebn't agree with him, but we have a suspicion that the superior climate and productiveness of the soil in this part , of Nebrabka has had something to do with his change of heart. The Commercial Club will hold its regular meeting next Wednesday even ing. Every member is urged to be present, as business of importance in connection with the becurlng of the Rock Island cut-off will come before the meeting. Positive assurance has been received from a gentleman well up in Rock Island circles that the road will be built, and he intimates that it would be well for Red Cloud to "get busy."
