Conrad Fit, and his daughter, Miss Clara, arrived in Red Cloud Saturday evening from Springfield, Illinois. F. W. McConkey and little daughter left Monday morning for a visit to the former's old home at Bryan, Ohio. Paul S. Moon returned to Muskegon, Mich., Saturday, after having effected the compromise with the city in the Moon block case. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bohanan and daughter Bculah, of Lincoln, were visiting E. B. Smith and family the ' first of the week. Miss Juliet Gulusha returned to her home in Lincoln today noon, after a visit of several weeks here with rela tives and friends. Porter, who have been in Red Cloud for several weeks visiting with Mrs. A. A. Pope, left Wednesday morning for their home in Dayton, Ohio. W. R. Black, who has been visiting the Ka'ey families, returned to his home in Findlay, Ohio, Wednesday morning. His daughter will remain here for an oxtenncd visit. Mrs. L. C. Barn.lt left Tuesday for Pearl City, 111., to make an extended visit. She will return to Red Cloud for a short time before joining her husband and son at Cowley, Wyo. Patmor of Santa Ana, California, was received by relatives In Red Cloud the first of the week, announcing the death of their four-months-old daugh-' ter, Hester Ada, who died June 7, of pneumonia. J. Dr. Edwards and wife, who have been in California for some time, were in Red Cloud Saturday, en route to their home in Itostou, Massachusetts. Mrs. Edwards' brother, L. A. Trow bridge, and family of Itlue Hill came down and visited with them between trains. Mrs. L. I). "Bub" Moore came home from Den ver Monday, whore he has been in a hospital for the past seven months nursing a broken arm which refused to heal. It was feared for a long time that the arm would have to be ampu tated, but, while he is still carrying his arm in a sling, lie will eventually regain the use of it. Dr, A. Townstiiid, who was formerly associated with Dr. Cook in the prac tice of medicine here, will on July 10 tipen a bank at Campbell, with 2.r,000 capital, having received the charter for the same tin Wednesday. The building for the institution is almost completed. S. M. True will be the cashier of the new bank. A. N. Patmor, who is here from Cal ifornia on a visit, received word the first of the week which caused him to dance with joy. Mr. Patmor is 04 years of age and on Thursday, June 7, was born his first great-grandchild a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Baker of Allerton, Iowa. Mrs. Baker was formerly Miss Grace Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Smith of this city. Not very many men are great grandfathers at 04. F. W. Cowden and L. II. Blackledge of Red Cloud stopped In Lincoln yes terday on their way home from Oma ha, where they attended the Masonic grand lodge. They say that everyone in the western part of the state be lieves Lincoln has u winning base ball team and that the reports of games are closely watched. The admirers of the team in Red Cloud expect to make up a largo excursion party to come to the two games in Lincoln on the Fourth of July. State Journal. There is an ordinance against ob structing the streets and sidewalks with wares displayed by merchants. They arc particularly offensive to the eye, as well as dangerous, when al lowed to obstruct half the street. Why Is this ordinance not enforced?
