The daily maximum tompor atures were generally below ninety de grees. Thoro has boon a decided de ficiency in precipitation, thoro being only a few scattered showers; tho greater portion of tho stato liad no precipitation. Thero has beon an un usual amount of sunshino, and tho con ditions woro vory favorablo for har vesting small grain, which is nbout completed. Threshing is in progress in many sections, and tho yield is re ported fair, with good quality. Corn has mado good growth, and still holds u good color, but needs rain at this period, especially as it has begun to tassel. Chinch bugs aro reported in somo sections, but the damago is gen erally slight. Pastures aro reported as being dried up in somo localities.
