M. Phillips vs Miss Emma Murphy occu- pied the attention of Judgo Duffy and a jury last Tuesday afternoon and re suited in tho discharge of the defen dant. The trouble arose from a dispute over a road between VTm. Murphy and H. H. Peck, and in which Miss Murphy took a hand, witli the avowed inten tion of breaking Peck's head with a box elder oliib, but unfortunately the club was. too short and- landed on Mrs. Phillip's arm. who was seated in the wagon be.ddu Peck. Miss Murphy came up town and tiled a complaint against hersolf, and paid u lino, to save further trouble, tut was again hauled Into court on Tuesday.
