Riven that nt a special election held in lied Cloud township, Webster county, Nebraska, on Saturday, the 31st day of March, 1868, the following question and proposition, to-wit: 'Shall the Township of Red Cloud, in the county of Webster, in the stato of Nebraska, issue and donate to the No braska Southern Railway Company eighteen bonds of said township, of tlie denomination of one thousand dollars each and one five hundred dollar bond of said township, to aid in the construc tion of the railroad of said company, said bonds to be payable to the bearer at the fiscal agency of "the stato of Nebraska in the city of New York, twenty yeara after date, bearing interest from tlie date thereof, at the rate of seven per centum per annum, interest payable semi-aunnaly for which interest coupons shall be attach ed, payable at the fiscal agency aforesaid each of said bonds to be dated the lirst day of July, A. D. 1S8S, the interest on said bonds being payable on the first day of January and July, of each year after the date thereof and shall tlie board of county supervisors of the said county of Webster, or other person or persons charged by law with the levying of the taxes of said county for the time being, in addition to the usual taxes, cause to be levied annually, upon all the taxable property of said township of lied Cloud a tax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds as the sanso shall become due and payable, and also cause to bo levied each year upon all the taxable property of said township, a tax sufiicient to pay live per centum of the principal of said bonds.aud at the tax levy preceding the maturity of said bonds, levy a tax on all the taxable property of said township, to an amount sufficient to pay the principal and interest on said bonds. Provided, that paid town ship shall only be liable to pay interest on said bonds from the time said railway company shall become entitled to receive the same and provided said railway shall be a standard guage railroad, and shall be built having steel rails, completed and in operation by lease or otherwise into the city of Red Cloud on or before the tirst day of January, A. D. ISS'J, and pro vided further that a station and depot shall be established at Red Cloud to ac commodate and transact the freight and passenger business of said company in said township of Red Cloud.'"' Was duly and legally submitted thereat and that said question and proposition was adopted and carried by more than two thirds of all the votes cast at such election in favor thereof and that such election was duly and legally held at said timo and place, and as said question and propo sition was duly and legally carried and adopted.
