The receptien given Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Lewis, by Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, on Thursday evening last, was one of the social events of the season, and al though late in our notice, necessarily, we cannot forego a few items in re gard to it. Between seventy-five and one hundred guests assembled, were cordially received by Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler and presented to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, who had returned from their wedding trip tho day previous, and who, stationed amid the beautiful flo ral decorations of the bay window, looked, as they responded t the con gratulations of their friends, the em bodiment of happiness, as all who have newly entered the estate of matrimo ny should do. A inong the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Chris Hartrnan, of Oma ha, old friends of Mr", and Mrs. Wheel er. As our cotemporary has so ably and truthfully(?) described the cos tumes of some of the ladies present, we depart from our usual custom and attempt an imperfect description of the complexities of tho ladies toilettes. although we must beg pardon of those who may consider it a violation of good taste. A similar ho'i net, smaller, occupied a position upon the piano. The recep:ion altoge'her was a most t pleasant one to both guests and enter tainers, all who were present leaving only after renewed expressions of good wishes for the happiness of the bridal party, and enjoyment to the host and hostess.
