COLLECIE LOCATION MEETING.
At a called meeting of the citizens
of Plattsmouth, in regard to the loca
tion of a Methodist College, held in the
Court House, Wednesday evening, Feb.
2d, IS7C, Dr. It. K. Lh ingston was call
ed to the chair on motion of ii. II.
Ulack.
Jno. A. MacMurphy, was chosen
Secretary. The ilev. Mr. Alexander,
was asked to more fully explain the
object and intent of the meeting, or in
other words to explain what terms the
Trustees of the Methodist College de
sired. Mr. Alexander did explain the ori
gin and authority of the board of Trus
tees, and stated that the M. E. Church
proposed t establish a Seminary
school of high grade not a I'niversity
at present but a good high grade
Seminary.
The question of obtaining titl was
then discussed.
A committee of 5 was then appoint
ed to draw up a resolution embodying
the offer of Plattsniouth, and also to
act as a standing committee between
the citizens and the Trustees until this
matter ia settled.
The committee are: Sam. M. Chap
man, Jacob Vallery, Geo. II. lilack, E.
G. Dover, and K. Ii. Livingston.
The following proposition was then
offered as a resolution, and adopted by
a large majority vote of the people
present:

make proposition to the Trustees of ihe Meth
odist Conference do offer Ihe following :
The citizens of 1'lattsuiouth. propose to t,;ve
and make a good tiile to the follow. property
in order to secure ihe loc.iiiuii cf a Methodist
Seminary in this place :
The High School building and g-.-oui.ds. to
gether Willi th; two blocks l orih of said hUh
school buil Jing ; also a subscription of SiO.OJ'J
in money, lots and lands, all located within or
near the city of Plattsmouth.
