T11E FEAK FAMILY
We had the pleasure of a visit from
Miss Fannie Peak last wetik. She is
an exceedingly lively little business
lad' the troupe a most excellent one.
The bells are as famous ?.s ever, and
thtir band a very good ona. Mr. Wy
man in Ifis numerous characters was
very laughable, but the part of the per
fbniiauefc that took our young folks the
most was the Call boy with his "y-e-s

Eve:' youngster ou the street was 'hol
lering' "y-e-s s-i-r" next morning at the
top of his lungs. "When the Herald
came to the otlice, the first thing he
heard was a yelp from the boys' room
of y-e-s s-i-r, and all day at intervals
we were y-e-s s-i-rred till you couldn't
rest. The Ione solo was excellent, and
we expected to eee half the lads in
town out next day with? a pair, retnem

lirst heard the "hones." The next

A GREAT MARRIAGE.
Mr. Nathan, of the firm of Solomon
fe Nathan was married at St. Jo. Mo,
on the S3d inst to Miss Saunders.
After this interesting event, M. and
Mrs. Mathan returned to Plattsmouth,
and our friend Nathan has hardly been
able to contain himself ever since.
All last summer when the Herald
would go down the street, Nathan
would say; "Good morning Mr. Her
ald, how am I, this morning?" New
he says: "Good morning boys, how is
Mrs. Nattan this morning?" Ok, well,
such little jokes will keep happening
to us every now and then in our voy
age through life.
The only curioii3 thing about it is, that
Nathan never has done :,o before; he
is good looking, and so amiable tint
somebody ought to have carried him
off long 'ere this. Then he was so
modest ah! that's the rub we know.
Its leap year, that's how Nathan
came to be the victim just now.
All jokes aside, the Herald wishes
the newly married pair a lo".g life, a
happy one, and all made up of leap years,
if they're any letter than other years.
OUR GREENWOOD LETTER.
Ed. Ufraid: Sir: Thinking you
and the mtny readers of the Proelaim
er of Cass Comity would like to know
how the Queen City of western C;iss
is progressing, has been the means of
inducing us to drive the quill for a few
moments.
To those who have never seen our
beautiful town, we would say that
Greenwood is charmingly situated on
the banks of the romantic Saline river,
known in vulgar parlance as Salt Creek.
This is a splendid business point, and
we venture to assert that the time is
not far distant when Greenwood will
rank first among the cities of the great
West. The town does not exist that
posesses better agricultural surround
ings than this town does, and herein
lies the secret of it's greatness. There
are two extfiisivc dry goods ami gro
cery stores here one under th manage
ment of W. Etheredge & Son, who are
doing a splendid business. Mr. Ether
edge fonnerlyjresidcd in Plattsmouth,
but some six years ago, recognizing the
fact that Greenworl would some day
make a fine town, he wisely settled on
a piece of land about one and a half
miles from Greenwood, and about four
mouths .ago he bought out the stock of
Gus Hinkley. The other store is own
ed by the Tutt Bros, formerly of Platts
mouth, too. These gentlemen are too
well known and respected to require
further notice here. We have also two
resident physicians of nnqueRtionahlo
skill, viz: Drs. M Vonngstedt and II.
D. Root. Dr. Youngstedt keeps a well
stocked drug-store and is doing a good
business. We have two blacksmith
shois, and one wagon and carriage
shep. all appearing to be doing well
considering the season. Joe Connor is
here buying torn, audit 13 simply as
tonishing to see the amount of corn
that comes in and lie buys. We under
stand that the IS. & M. It. R. Co. are
contemplating running another train
each day as far as Greenwood, but
whether this is just to accomodate Joe,
or whether they calculate running it
further than Greenwood we have not
yet ascertained.
We have just organized a debating
society to be known as "The Greenwood
Debating and Literary Society," with a
good string of members. The olfieers
elected are. President H. D. Root; Vice
President, Ed win Jeary; Treasurer, L.
C. Hanson ; Secretary. S. O. Salisbury,
The first regular meeting of the above
mentioned society takes place at Green
wood next Friday night, and the sub
ject for discussion is as follows; iRe
solved that the Grange movement in
the United States wa3 more a detri
ment to the interest of the farmer than
a benefit." Affirmative; J. Connor, M.
Youngstedt, J, D. Rouse, W. Etheridge,
J. Tutt, Olin Salisbury II. Knowles, L.
C. Hansen, and John Faulk: Negative;
