Cap't Palmer, that jolly fellow, who goes all over, knows everybody, and gets everything, has had a "bail" of Oysters in the shell sent him all the way from New York City, and 1)9 mag nanimously sent the "Herald" a bush el or so. real ripe and pretty in the shell, only they "was froze" awful tight, there they lay in the basket, all cov ered with sea weed. Now our wife and the baby have never seen oysters in the shell, so we poured some wate on 'em, and tickled 'era with sea-weed t make them open their mouths. They did open them and the baby thinking it was a g.od opening for a young per son, put its teenty weenty finger in and yelled! wife tried to get the baby out, and put her lingers in. We had left our oyster knife in New York, some years ago, so we rushed to the barn and got an axe, a hatchet, a screw driver, cold chisel, and a case knife. When the fingers were released, we tried another oyster; the plaguey crit ter bit the cold chisel off. We then took them up to John Way man's Ma chine shop. John broke 'em with a trip hammer, opened the shell with the Foundry poker, and we ro;isted them in the furnace fire, and had oys ters on the half shell in spite of anybody. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCE MENT !
