The audience was hardly large enough to reward them for the pains they had taken to give satisfaction. Woodruff returned home last Thursday morning, from Washington. Eugene Reed of Reed Bros. Weeping Water, was in town last Monday. Reed Bro's. are still alive. Our friend Murphy, Photographer of this, place has been out with Col. Cur ley taking views of Kearney and other places for the Colonel's new book. Mr. (!il Hildebrand, a brother-in-law to Will Brentner, called in to see us Saturday. He is from Highland, Xew Hampden county, Virginia, and is very much pleased with Nebraska. He in tends to remain here some time. Mr. John Edmonds, of Prairie Ronde, Michigan, called in to see us Tuesdav. He is an old friend and schoolmate of Rush Fellows, and is going to run a farm near Rock Bluffs, in this county. Success to you, Johnny. Hon. John Rouse, democratic War Hor6e. Green wood, delegate to the Con. Con. &c, old friend ot the Herald and lots of other good things to be said about him called on us Monday morn ing bright and early. All's well that and well, MEETING OF THE CITY CONVEX TION. Meeting called to order by MacMur phy. as Chairman. Wm. L. Wells was elected Secretary. Jos. Johnson. Wheeler, Prongor and Stiles were appointed on credentials. Each ward was empowered to cast the full vote of the Ward. On the first formal ballot E. G. Po vey was nominated FOR MAYOR. On the third ballot, Wm. L. Wells was nominated FOR CLERK. On the first ballot II. J. Streight was nominated FOR TREASURER. P. B. Murphy, for Marshal; P. P.Gass, for Police Judge, and Geo. Fairfield for Engineer, were all nominated by acclamation. Each Ward then recommended a candidate for the School Board and they were voted on and resulted as follows: First Ward Jno. A. MacMurphy. Second Ward Geo. S. Smith. Third Ward Thos. Pollock. Fourth Ward C. P. Moore. On motion, Messrs. Smith and Pol lock were chosen for two years, and MacMurphy and Moore for one year.
