Mr. Wind ham, ami other citizens of PI tttsmouth, will give a Concert at Fitzgerald's Hall, in Friday evening. Aug, 2Sth. Miss Crocker has made good use of her time while studying music in Chicago, a id we can assure our citizens a rare treat. Let all turn out and show their i appreciation of good music. An infant child of Mr. Augustus Rheinhackle, died on Monday hist. Geo. Furnas, a son of Gov. Furnas, called on the Herald last week. Georgo is an old friend of the Herald and we welcome him to Plattsmouth. Webster Eaton, the rattling editor of the Kearney Junction Daily Press was in town not long since. We are sorry to record that lie was not feeling very well. Win. Troop left the Herald some of the needful, last week, and has our thanks. J. T. Loyd, of Eight Mile Grove, call ed 011 t Le Hei:a ld. Mr. L. Furlong of Mt. Pleasant, made us twice happy one day not long since. Dan. McKinnon, our lively, hand some, and hard-working County Clerk, has left us for a short trip to Salt Lake and Denver, for his health. Hope Dan will come back with the bloom of the nses on his cheek. Capt. Palmer has just returned from an extensive trip east. Sam. Chapman goes over to Iowa to Court law Court we mean. Prof. St urges, the new Principal of the High School arri veil here Tuesday. He is a pleasant scholarly looking young man, and hails from Michigan. We may expect the other teachers soon. Geo. Fairfield has come home from his surveying expedition on the North Loup, and looks hearty. Fred RIack was out of luck last Sat urday night, losing a pocket book con taming 82:5. Mr. J no. II. L. Williams, of Omaha, called on us yesterday and left a V to be credited on his subscription. Call again, John. Mr. George Stinchcomb, a "comp."on the Daily Republican, of Omaha, but formerly of this place, called into our office yesterday. He looks hearty, and says the Republican always "looms up." lie's a 'brick." ORDINANCE No. 62. An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 02 entitled "An Ordinance to pro vide and regulate the Revenue of the citv," pu-ssed and approved July 13th 187-1. Be it Ordaimdly the Mayor and Com mon Counciluun of the City of Plattsmouth. That Section No. 1 of Ordinance No 02 in words and figures as follows: "Sec. 1. That there shall Iks and is hereby levied on all the Real, Personal and Mixed property within said city not exempted from taxation by the. laws of the State of Nebraska, a tax of 2 mills on the dollar for general revenue purposes for the year 1874 on the valuation of said property as shown by the assessment books of said city for said year." Re and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 1. That there shall le and is hereby levied upon all the real, person al and mixed property within Platts mouth City subject to taxation by law for the year 1874, a tax of 5 mills on the dollar for general revenue purpos es for the year 1874, said levy to be made upon the valuation of said prop erty as shown by the city assessor's books for the year 1874. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. C2 in words and ligures as follows: -.Sec. 2. That there shall be and is hereby levied upon all the real, person al and mixed property within said city not exempt from taxation by the laws of the State of Nebraska, a tax of i4 mills on the dollar for Improvement fund for the year 1874, on the valua tion of said property as shown by the assessment books of said city for said year." J5e an the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 2. That there shall be and is hereby levied upon all the real estate within the corporate limits of the city of Plattsmouth not exempt from tax ation, a tax of 3 mills on the dollar for an Improvement fund for opening and improving streets, avenues, alleys, and for building and making bridges, cul verts and sewers, and for keeping the same in repair for the year 1874, said levy to be made upon the valuation of all the real estate of Plattsmouth City as shown by the assessment books for said city for the year 1874. That Section 0 of Ordinance No. C2, in words and figures as follows: "That there shall be and is hereby levied uion all the real, personal and mixed property within said city not exempted from taxation by the laws of the State of Nebraska, a tax of 7 mills on the dollar for interest and principal on Chicago Avenue Street Ronds for the year 1874 on the valua tion of said property as shown by the assessment books of said city for said year and that said taxes referred to in this section shall be paid only in mon ey. Re and the same is. hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 3. That there shall be and is hereby levied upon all the real estate within the limits of Plattsmouth city, not exempt from taxation a tax of 5 mills on the dollar for interest and one-third (V) principal in payment of interest and part principal for the year 1874 of the three Street Ronds known and designated as the '-Chicago Avenue Street bonds" said levy to be on the valuation of the real estate of Platts mouth city as shown by the assess ment books of said city for the year 1874, and that said tax referred to in this section shall be paid only in cash. In the midst of the hilarity Potter's cornet hand of Weeping Water appeared on the scene, and in the form of well selected and really superior music added another and unexieeled token of the general good will of the people toward the doctor and his fair bride.
