We rode up to the grounds and found a very pretty place in the woods, almost south of Job rT Barnes place. A huge tent was pitched, and numerous smaller ones, Henry Straight has put up a big boarding house on the groands, and numerous smaller booths, and the like are underway; also, John Leesley has a shanty where he keeps ice cream, lemonade, soda-water, grapes, and fruit of all kinds. The folks begin to roll In, ami by to-morrow we may expect to see things in full blast. PERSONAL. Those summer goods of Merges", be vnuse they are very much reduced. Mr. K. M. Black, lately from Omaha, Las opened a Tonsorial Parlor in our midst, on Main stn et, opposite Hekalu tilliec, where he can be found at any time ready and willing to wait upon bis customers. We rode out to Louisville and found them as far east as Cedar Creek, further south a gentleman in forms us Light Mile Grove forms the dividing line. Last of there, are none. The cloud if Grasshoppers this year is nothing in comparison with the great Grasshopper years of 1860-7. Arthur Mills, a regular Yankee boy, formerly at the B. & M. 11. II. office returned to Old Massachusetts last week. We are very sorry to lose Mr. and Mrs. Mills, they were very pleas ant neighbors. "Lou" Cunningham has gained 2') pounds of somebody's meat up on the Loup. Owing to the well being used all the time, and the fact that damp or had air s unusal in this section, unless in very 'leep wells, no one thought of danger here. The Swede descended on a rope, nnd probably full dead without a sign. Mr. Livingston became alarmed at his silence and thinking there might probably be bad air in the well, he got :v candle and holding it down before him in the well, he ordered the men to lower him. When about 8 feet down, his candle went out, and he shouted for the men to draw up quick.' They endeavored to do so but just as Living ston was almost within reach from the top, he dropped and fell to the lottom, ft mangled and crushed corpse. Both men were speedily taken out by ropes and drags. The Swede had hardly a bruise. The wounds and cuts would have killed Livingston, had not the lire damp. lioth men were buried on Sunday. Mr L. leaves a family to mount his" sudden and terrible death, and the community have lost a valuable citi zen; his neighbors a dear frieh'd. - We hope this may serve as a warn ing to others in the well business.
