All parties knowing themselves in debted to me, either by note or account, ale hereby requested to settle the same, on or before the 10th. day of July, as I must settle my own indebtedness by that date, and need the money. Take warning. l.S-t. John W. Shannon'. I'ncle Thomas Jefferson Todd tells us a good one about how he once made a corn crop in spite of himself. lie left home just about the commencement of corn-planting time, and he hired a man to plow corn at 50 cents a day, suppos ing he would plow till harvest, and then quit, as he could make better wages harvesting, even if the corn was not "laid by." Uncle Todd never got back home until after harvest, and the corn was all out in silk, but the hired man was still plowing away at the corn. It happened that it was a very dry season, and this constant stirring secured a crop to Mr. Todd, while his neighbors went hungry for corn that year. FOURTH OF J FLY CFLEIiKATIOX AT PLATTSMOUTH.
