Mr. J. J. Patterson, of Hook Bluff.,
Las bought the Marquett place, and
will move to town very shortly. The
more we have of such men the better.

The Old Folks' Concerte was a great
access as far as a fine performance
went but pecuniarily, it was a failure.
We had hoped our people would do
better. The ladles and gentlemen en
gaged in this venture had practiced
faithfully for six weks. and really
gave u a very fine entertainment.

ilR. OLDH AM'S CATTLE.
Mr. Oldham brought in to be weighed,
previous to shipping, a very handsome
lot of cattle, on Thursday last. The
first twenty head weighed 26.100 lbs.,
or an average of HJOiS lbs. The next
lot of 10 averaged 12S1 lbs.
Two four year old steers weighed
3400 lbs., or 1700 apiece; 1 heifer, not a
year old, weighed GSM lbs. These cattle
were all raised in Cass county, and the
heaviest in market, raised on hii own
farm near Hock Bluffs.
Trofessor "Major" d'Allemand, one
r Plattstnouth's best and most useful
citizens, leaves us this week for Arapa
hoe, Furnas county. The Major says
he is no Professor any more; Profes
sors are cheap, and so we drop that
title and wish most heartily and sin
cerely that our old friend may find
sous strewn in his path, all up and
down the Republican valley, if he wan
ders there, and that from henceforth
all the benignest favors of dame for
