Homehodi" is ciiiio.ivoiinz to create a niouatairt out of a mole hill on the fiiies ti'.n ol' apportionment to the District Convention, asJ ther'o appears to he a particular anxiety to l.-laine (.'as coutity, r more esee!ally the editor of the I tit ALT). It is stated, in suh-tanee. that the Cass d'leatii.n f.rced the pres ent apportionment. Without saying a word relative to the justice or ir,jus.tiee of the apportionment, we desire to make a statement relative to the meeting at whieh the apportionment was agreed upon. DuriiiL' the ctate Convention we were notofk-d that our pre-enee was ipiired at a meeting of the delegates from the sixth Senatorial District. We immediately proceeded to the Auditor's oilier, where we were tol 1 the meeting was to he held. Arriving there, we found the delegates assembled from Sarpy. Saunders, Seward and IJutler, also delegates from Home of the we.-teni ou'ities, not included in the district. We were at once selected as chairman, and W. H. Davis, of Seward, was chosen s Secretary. Noticing that none others were present from Cass except ourstlf, we asked if they had been notified, and were informed that it had been agreed upon that oce member from each county tdiouid settle the que-tion of the district convention. The questions of time and place of holding the convention was soon determined, when A. Deyo, of Saunders county, moved that the representation in the district convention be the same as in the State convention. W. II. Davis, of Seward county, moved to amend by re d.ieingthe number of delegates from Cass to four, instead of nine as in the State convention. At this juncture we requested that we ruiirht be allowed to consult the Ca.-,s delegation before the question was put, giving as a reason that we had not consulted a .-.iim'e mem ber of the delegation on the subject and that we did not feel authorized to vote upon the amendment without a consul tation or without anthorify from the deioira'ion ; whereupon Mr. D avis vifhilitiv his amendment, and the ormmal motion ma !,. he Mr 1 t.'VO wn out and carried b a unanimous votf the chairman not rotimj. Now, let us a-k, wherein is Cass county to blame, if tlfrr is anj Lltr.ie. Only one member was present ;.t the meeting, and lie did not vote upon the que.-tion of appor tionment. Is it not barely possible that some one is ''straining at a gnat," with a view to some prrsnnul interest in the distri'-t convention ? We fear some one hat; mi-repre-eiiti-d the action of tho mectinrihat made the apportionment, and tliciei'oie we regret. oxe edmg'y, that the Seere'ary, Hon. W. Ii. Davis, has not furiiMied a copy of the proroed imrs of the meeti'je to some one of the journals pub'idied in that portion of the district where he resides. We hop lie will yet furnished a copy. We ask this in justice to oursclf, and Cass county, as well as in justice to the other members of the meeting. rr.tii'i.i:v vk i io?r. We have before stated that the ' Peo ples' Cenv. ntion" laid at Hrownviile on the :17th uk. was a complete failure.
