citizens have organized themselves into
Sportmen's Clubs, named Empire and
Excelsior. The Empire is composed of
the following gentlemen: Jas. Buck, Cap
tain ; Wm. II. Anderson, W. P. Davis.
Samuel Chapman and E. C. Lewis. The
Excelsior James E. Tutt, Capt.; R. R.
Livingston, F. M. Dorrington, II. Amieon,
John Shannon.
On Tuesday of last week they left the
city early for a hunt. Tho agreement
was, the party scoi ing the least number
of points to pay all expenses and furnish
a supper. Evening came, and a crowd
gathered around the office of U. R. Liv
ingston, M. D., when the result, which
wus given at 7 o'clock, P. M.,was ns fol
lows: Empire Excelsior 30 points.
A fine supper was prepared on the fol
lowing evening by tho obliging landlord
of the Platte Valley House, G. W. Crow.
The supper was a line affair, consisting
of the game, canned fruits, and many
other luxuries. Tho greatest of good
feeling prevailed.
After supper another challenge was
made by the Empire for a second buut on
Friday. On Friday morning the hunters
again disappeared, and nothing was seen
or heard of them until evening, with the
exception cf the distant thunder of their
fov.i"mg-pi-ees. Ihe oluce of tho Doctor
was cleared of the spectators in the eve
ning with tho cry of "somebody has stol
en one of our bird!" but we were grat
ified to hear the Doctor say, "Uis con
