W. D. Blackburn, cf the Falls City Journal called upon us this week, on his return from Teunsylvania, where he has been visiting the past three months.' Mr. Blackburn says that Southern Nebraska is attracting much of the attention of all elasses of men In the East, and that they look upon the project of the Quincy Railroad via. of Brown ville to Ft. Kearny as one of the most promising thorough fares yet projected. Its shortness and directness in comparison with other routes which tend In the eame direc tion, will draw heavy upon the capital of the country ; and, unlike other similar enterprises, there will be com petition among monied men for its stock, rather than an effort upon the part of its managers to secure purchas es at ruinous discounts. Disinterested men in the East are viewing the mat ter In this light, and so are eager to hear what may be said about the soil, climate, settlements, Improvements and enterprises in this portion of Ne braska, to satisfy which Mr. Black burn was called upon to lecture to croM'ded audiences in various parts of the old commonwealth upon the pres ent and future prospects cf this, his adopted State. - - - : ' We suppose that every thing whic is necossary to say about our Agricul tural Fair commencing September 21, may be found cn the Agricultural page of the Advertiser, still we can not refrain from saying a word to our many readers.
