Howells (Neb.) Journal: The trust
question promises to be the leading
issue in the national campaign one
year hence. Our republican frjends
can be trusted to denounce trusts and
at the same time bleed each and ev
ery one of the monopolies of the coun
try for a campaign fund. That's what
they did the last time and that's what
they will do again. Every trust In
the land is a child of republican crea
tion and there is no evidence to war
rant the belief, that the parent in
tends going back on Its offspring.
Coldwater (Mich.) Star: Two pri
vate banks, one at Lagrange and one
at Topeka, Ind., have suspended with
deposits of poor people amounting to

the $4,000,000 government funds Secre
tary Shaw has just distributed imong
fifty pet banks to "move the crops!"
If only those two banks had had the
privilege of issuing currency under
the proposed g. o. p. plan upon their
"assets" of course they could continue
business because the more they owed
depositors the more "money" they
could issue. Of course the money
