I / * PEAK of QUALITY Sunday School PERSONS AND PROPERTY Scripture: Exoduus 20:15; Luke 16:1-12. Memory Selection: Present Day Application By Bishop Frederick D. Jordan Los Angeles, Calif. Each of us has lived long enough to see the chaos that re sults when thhe rights of owner ship are not recognized. We see it in the lives of individuals and in the conflicts of nations. Taking what belongs to others always leads to unhappiness and also breaks one of God’s rules for liv ing together. The right use of property has much to do with the development of Christian person ality. Do not think that this com mandment just refers to house breaking, armed robbery, taking aver of a nation’s oil rights by force, and such. What about the church dinner, when a member of! the “committee” takes out some thing and conceals it in her bag to take home. It may be justl a pie that disappears. And do not forget the church treasurer who always makes mistakes in his favor. I remember one who put five quarters in a stack, eleven dimes, etc. Some who violate this commandment are right in your midst. Then what about the per sons who dodge paying their pro portionate share. The member who contributes 25c when he should contribute a dollar. Perhaps the one in your family who always has an excuse when it is his turn to pay a bill. Being honest in all things is the Christian way. guest speaker at a rally for the United Negro College Fund, Inc., June 11, at Cornerstone Baptist church. Mrs. Margurite V. Brown and Mrs. Dollie L. Robinson are co chairmen of the program. Mrs. Marguerite Johnson, director of the Brooklyn campaign for the College Fund, stated that the workers are highly confident of success in the first organized drive here for the fund. The Mail Bag Dear Editor: In regard to the new rules that the Urban League Board members have decided upon: I believe that the youths who are 19 and over would also like to have some form of recreation once in awhile. Where are we sup posed to go for our recreation? I’m quite sure everyone knows that Lincoln does not offer the j young Negroes any recreation whatsoever, and now I find that if you are 19 or over you are not allowed to go to the Urban League and mingle with the other Teen agers on teenage night. I was always under the impression tha1 I the Urban League was an organi zation that was open to all teen agers, I didn’t know that when we reach 19 we were tossed into the adult group. * { I always understood that the Urban League was mostly for the I youths recreational activities, but I believe that the adults are gain ing more use of it than are the youths. Sincerely, Ernestine Burns. Editor’s Note: Upon cheeking with the Recreational Com mittee 01 the Urban League 1 found ®tluit the following rules have been established. The teenage dances on Friday nights shall be just for those age 13 to lit i**clusive. No married persons can participate -gardless of age.
