r Social Briefs By Otrwlki Onn Spending a week at the home of their mother, Mrs. Birdie Mitchell, in Brookfield, Missouri were Mrs. Jeannette Elliott and Vivian Mitchell. They were accompanied by Roger and Sherrell, children of Mrs. Elliott. The First Ten club, a newly or ganized group at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. church, is sponsoring a chitterling and fish dinner on Oc-1 tober 19th at the home of its presi dent, Rev. Melvin L. Shakespeare. Other members besides the Shake spears are: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Botts, Mr. and Mrs. John C.l Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Finley and Mr. and Mrs. H. O. McFields. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Parsons entertained Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Adams at their home recently at a farewell party. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stith. Mr and Mrs. Adams left Sunday i to make their home in Nebraska 1 City, Nebraska. ! i Mr. and Mrs. Luther Givehand and children Jane and Luther, jr., spent Sunday in Lincoln. On their return trip they were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Adams. The Non-Parrelle club, a newly organized group of young adults met at the Urban League on Tues day. Miss Charlotte Loving arrived by plane from Los Angeles on Saturday to spend a vacation with her-sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon A. Becks of Baltimore, Md., were guests of Rev. and Mrs. Shakespeare on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Becks had visited his mother, Mrs. Lela Becks in Beatrice, Nebr. Mr. Becks was stationed in Seattle with the army until a recent dis charge. They also visited his brother, Algenon, who was a patient at Lincoln General hos pital. Admitted to Primary I; BATON ROUGE, La.—(ANP)— (The Louisiana state democratic central committee last week changed its rules to allow Negroes to vote in democratic primaries. There is freedom of speech and freedom of the press in Mexico. As in our country, there is complaint about ' the way things are done, but it seems as if the citizens of Mexico have decided to avoid the disas ters that come from revolutions. They realize that the best progress is made through friendly discus sion, trying to arrive at some 1 method that will please the ma jority. It is the Anglo-Saxon way, 'it is the Swiss and the Scandi natvion way, and Mexico has ap parently concluded it is the only way to run a government. not affect greatly the voting status of Negroes here, for they have been voting for years despite the former ruling.
