Hebrews 11:10 PRESENT DAY APPLICATION BY FREDERICK D. JORDAN We are familiar with the word pioneer and know that it means not “only one who goes before” into that which is unknown and untried, but one who as he ad vances removes obstructions and clears the way for others. Such a one was Abraham, such a one was Richard Allen. These men were willing to obey God, to follow him by faith though it meant breaking with custom and tradition. Those who trust God most and obey him best can do the most for others. If you would write your name in the halls of fame answer God’s call which still comes today to you and me, for adventurous pioneer ing in Christian living. Abraham today is honored by three great faiths Judaism, Christianity and Mohammedanism. No other character has wider recognition in the Scriptures, for he is men tioned in sixteen of the Old Testa ment books and eleven of the New Testament. Richard Allen today is .honored not only by the million members in the church he founded, bupt regarded by his torians as “An Apostle of Free dom” both religious and human, as originating self-help or co joperative enterprises in this coun try. — 11 * The newspaper has been called the common maiVs \miversity. ___ The Associated Press first usee typewriters in 1885. » ■ m Jess Williams Spring Service 2215 O Street Lincoln 8, Nebraska Phone 2-3633 HAL J. It became the seat of an extensive diocese and has ever since been a stronghold of Catholicism. When the writer was in Mexico a few years ago,: during the struggle between church and state, and found all the churches between Nogales and Mazatlan closed, services were still conducted much as usual in Guadalajara. The conflict between the government and the church now seems to have been ironed out.
