Mrs. Green*and family are former residents of Lincoln. Elder Herman Taylor, formerly of Denver, Colo., spent Saturday with the Allon Chapel Youth. He is the new district leader of the colored Seventh-day Adventists in this area. He is over the Omaha, Sioux City and Lincoln churches. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Green have returned after spending three weeks in Chicago, 111., with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Green. Out-of-town guests that at tended the funeral of Mr. Frank Williams, Tussday were, Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Bradford and children, Marion, Gladys, Monte, jr., Phyl lis, Jonetta, Frances and Andrea, Rev. and Mrs. B. T. McDaniels and children, Patricia and Booker, jr., Mrs. Cleney and Mrs. Nellie Holmes all of Omaha; Mrs. Ma rion Douglas, Eolia, Mo., Mrs. Clemie Walker, Palmyra, Mo., and the Rev. W. L. Johnson, Hanni bal, Mo. Mrs. M. L. Shakespeare re turned Monday after attending the Connectional Quadrennial Ses sions of the Women’s Missionary Society of the A.M.E. church, in Memphis, Tenn. Due to the flood ing in Kansas City she detoured through Chicago, 111., where she joined her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Green, on their return trip. j The Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Brooks and family left Wednesday to spend several weeks visiting friends and relatives in California. (ANP)—About 100 representatives of 20 local civic clubs met last week in the Lau derdale branch of the YMCA to form a council of civic clubs. Main goal of the newly-formed organi zation is to get 75 per cent of the Negro population of the city and county registered to vote. The officers elected ar^: A. A. Branch, head of the Sci ence department at LeMoyne col lege, president; Mary Davis, editor of the Memphis Review, secre tary, and Willa A. McWilliams, teacher at Manassas High school, assistant secretary. Plans are under way for the adoption of a constitution and by laws, Benjamin Hooks, attorney, is serving as legal adviser. Add vinegar and sugar. Allow to thicken a little and add rest of ingredients. Pour into mold (heart shape if desired) and chill in re frigerator. Carefully unmold, gar nish with lettuce and top with more salad dressing. This is an effective salad to serve for buffet supper. The top can be garnished with strips of pickles and halves of hard cooked eggs. Dutch Apple Pie 6 or 8 apples -1 cup sour cream 1 cup granulated sugar 14 cup granulated cinnamon 2 tablespoons flour 1 tablespoon cooking tapioca Wash, pare and quarter the ap ples. Combine the flour and tapi oca and pat into the bottom and sides of an unbaked pie shell. Combine cream, sugars and cin namon. Dip each apple section in this cream mixture, then place in unbaked pastry shelL After pie shell is filled, pour the remain ing cream mixture over the ap pie sections and place in a hot oven. After 15 minutes reduce the temperature and continue baking for one hour, or until the apples are tender. Coroanat Drop Cake % cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2-3 cup milk teaspoon lemon extract 1 teaspoon van 11a % teaspoon salt 2 cups pastry flour 3 teaspoons baking powder V4 cup oocoanut Cream butter and sugar. Add rest of ingredients except cocoa nut. Beat 2 minutes. Half fill paper cups, sprinkle tops with cocoanut. Bake 15 minutes in moderate oven. Chocolate Bars One cup sugar, one egg (un beaten) one-fourth cup melted butter, one-half teaspoon vanilla, two squares unsweatened choco late, melted; one-half cup flour, one-half cup chopped nuts.
