Drop Course; to Keep Out Negroes ST. LOUIS—(ANP)—The in tentions of the St. Louis board of education to maintain its pattern of jimerow in public schools re ceived a boost this week when a circuit court dismissed a Negro suit for equal education. Reason for the dismissal of the suit was that the city had closed down the course ih question rather than teach it to both whites and Negroes. The case involved the white Hadley technical high in which white students were learning aero-mechanics , a course not taught at the Negro Washington tech. Two brothers, both Negroes, Wesley H. and Wilbert R. Brew ton, wanted to take the course and sued for entrance. The Circuit court last year ruled in their favor ordering the school board either to admit them to the white classes or set up a similar course at the Negro school. The Missouri Supreme court upheld this decision ordering Wesley to go because he was qualified. The court also was notified that Hadley had dropped the course, so remanded it to Judge Robert L. Aronson with orders to dismiss the suit if the subject was no longer taught. Philip J. Hickey, superintend ent of instruction, did order the course dropped, giving no reason, and Judge Aronson had no other course to take but dismiss the action. Equipment for the course has been stored. i 8 a g Holiday I * Greetings | I 8 S g S .
