Memory Selection—I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Ro mans 12:1. Present-Day Application By Frederick D. Jordon Los Angeles, Calif. God wants our lives. We should not think of stewardship only in terms of money, for God wants not just what we have but what we are ourselves. He wants us to make our lives count for Him. Paul speaks about the different gifts or abilities of individuals and our duty to use them all to the glory of God. A friend once told men that when he reached the age of fifty, he intended to settle down, take an active part in church and to join a lodge. For by then, he said, he would have been everywhere and have done everything he coud do, would have seen everything and would be ready to die for by them the world would owe him nothing. This is not what God wants, the leavings, the dregs of your life. The use we make of our lives is important. If our whole life is consecrated to God, then it includes our money, our | 9 talents and everything. This view of stewardship leads to a sense of Christian vocation in the church and in business and pro fessional life as well. In whatever work we are engaged our daily conduct should be such as would recommend the religion that we profess. Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee Take my moments and my days Let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my will and make it Thine It shall be no longer mine Take my heart, it is Thine own It shall be Thy royal throne. Patronize Our Advertisers—they are helping to make this publica I tion possible. Thanks giving day provided an upset that gave the Huskers sole possession of second place in the Big Seven. This is the first time in a number of years that the Scarlet has been able to finish that high. Let us all take our hats off to Coach Bill Glassford for his great job of molding a fine Husker machine that came back into prominence after being down so long. To him goes the credit of going to the mighty Minnesota camp and com ing away victorious. To him goes the'credit of taking a sophomore back, Bobby Reynolds, and mold ing the nation’s number one scorer as well as a potential All Amer ican. The Huskers went down Satur day afternoon after a gallant bat tle that shall be long remembered by both Nebraskans and Okla homans. It was once again ram bling Robert who scored 23 of Ne braska’s 35 points, that gave the nation’s number one Sooners a scare of their lives. The Husker fans will long remember flinging Fran Nagle who hit his target often Saturday afternoon. • • • Coaches of the State picked an all state High school football team for 50 and this is how it stacked up according to the World Herald ’ of Omaha, Neb.: At the ends the honors go to Lincoln Northeast, Paul Fredstrom, Dick Grell; tackles, Bernard Hazika, Creigh ton Prep; John Sebold, Grand Island; guards, Charles Ruvolo, Omaha North; Charles Bryant, Omaha, South; centers, Melvin Smith Pharmacy 2146 trine Prescriptions — Drugs Fountain — Sundries Phone 2-1958 BEAL'S GROCERY Freeh Fruits & Vegetables Meats 2101 R TeL 2*6933 Mix Tan GIs In ‘White’ Units BY FRANK WHISONANT (Courier War Correspondent) SOMEWHERE IN KOREA.— About one hundred Negro re placements were distributed to the three regiments of the 25th Infantry Division this week. Playing as they have not performed any time this season, the Detroit Lions surprisingly overwhelmed the New York Yanks 49 to 14 before a Thanksgiving crowd of 30,206 fans in freezing weather. To win the Lions literally stopped the Yanks’ famed speed backs including Buddy Young, George Taliaferro, and Sherman Howard, holding the Yanks rush ing attack to only 85 yards. Quarterback George Ratterman completed 26 of 48 passes for 356 yards, but this was not enough to cover the Lions’ versatile at tack. Taliferro scored a Yank TD a 26 yard heave from Ratterman. Playing for the Lions in the de fensive backfield was Horace Smith.
