Mr. Leroy Gales of Marshall, Mo., son of Mr. Raymond Gales is spending an indefinite stay in this city Miss Eursula Turner of Min neapolis. is in the city visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arbery Turner and family. Mr. Lincoln Gorman was bap tized at First Baptist Sunday night, July 16th. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Tapp have moved in the Gaskin place. Mr. Charles Irvin of White Cloud visited in the city Monday, July 17 th Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hayes are staying with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Ewing in St. Joseph. Mo. Mrs. James Cockrang had her tonsils removed Saturday, July 15th. She is doing fine now. The Ladies club had a picnic at Lake Contrary Sunday. July 16th. Most of the Elwood residents attended the Sunday school pic nic at Lake Contrary July 30th. Jerry Thomas of Sioux City returned to his home Friday evening. He is the great grand son of Rev. G. Monroe. The ladies of Bethel A.M.E. had a pie social Friday night, July 21. It was very successful. The pies were delicious That is all for this week. “Bert” Notes of Interest The joint Sunday school picnic held at Antelope park, Thursday, July 27 by Mt. Zion Baptist and Newman Methodist churches was greatly enjoyed by all those who attended. Games were played and there was plenty food for all.
