Plans were completed for a Christmas party to be given Dec. 9. Mrs. Ed Todd is chairman of arrangements. * * * Thirteen Lincoln cooks are looking forward to receiving their certificates on Dec. 9 for their accomplishments during the 12 class meetings under the direc tion of the vocational educational department program. Minneapolis, Minn., became the bride of Fletcher Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bell Sr. of this city, Sunday, Nov. 13 in Minne apolis. Among persons attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bell, Sr., Mr. and Mr. Walter Bell, Jr., Mrs. Sarah Tarp ley and Weiland Tarpley, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shearron, Miss Clintonia Smith and Mrs. Lulu Smith. * * * Richard Smith and Willis Baker of Omaha were members of a hunting pa:i> .vhich stopped in Lincoln Sunday. * * * Omaha members of Beta Beta Chapter were in Lincoln Sunday for a meeting at the Student Un ion, Ted Cunningham, Earl Hun nigan, Frank Shelby, Von Richard Trimble, Welcome Bryant and Hopie Bronson were among them. * * * Mt. Zion Baptist Church Has Successful Services The Rev. H. R. Boston is ac claimed a great preacher and spiritual leader. He will close a two-week revival meeting at Mt. Zion Baptist church Friday eve ning, Nov. 18. His sermon for young people Friday night was entitled, “I’m Not Ashamed of the Gospel.” Quinn Chapel AME church will be guest for the meeting Friday night. The choir is scheduled to sing. Persons who united with the church during the past week were Miss Mary Ethel Washington, Mrs. Rudolph Parson and Miss Barbara Qualls. Reporter, Mrs. Lenora Letcher. * * * Mrs. Montgomery Dies Mrs. Lola Howard Montgomery died Saturday, Nov. 5 in Manhat tan, Kansas. Mrs. Montgomery formerly lived in Lincoln arid is survived by one son, Corneal Wallace and a nephew, Roland W. Young of Lincoln. Funeral service was held on j Tuesday in Manhattan at Pil- j grim Baptist Church. Mr. Wal lace and Mr. Young both attended. * * * Word was received Sunday of the death of Mrs. Arvella Banks Collins, daughter of MrS. Ritha Banks. Mrs. Collins died in Cas per, Wyo., where she had lived for several yeurs. Among sur vivors ore her mother, grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas ! During her illness she had lots of com pany and received many gifts, ' including ice cream, flowers and a loCely pair of hand-made ear rings. * * * I hear that Charlene Colbert has very interesting company ! when she has her breakfast in the “Crib" every morning. Need some more company????? * * * Elois Finley sang a very lovely solo Sunday morning at Quinn Chapel entitled “Deep River.” Sunday afternoon at the Quinn 1 Chapel State Day the youth choir gave a selection to welcome the many visitors. It had an act in in where Loretta McWilliams did a bit of cheer leading. She makes a good one, too. By the way that was a very poor showing from Oklahoma. What happened???? * * * Joyce Williams returned last week after spending a week vis iting friends and relatives in Mis souri. An interesting part in her vacation was when she saw the homecoming game at which Lin coln^ upset Fisk 27-25 in Jef ferson City, Mo.
