Mrs. Helen Seward of Columbus, O., Miss Betty Gaines of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Ruth Thomas of Omaha arranged their vacations in order to meet at home together. * * * Miss Delight Killinger, who has been attending summer school ai Iowa City stopped over for a rest speriod with Mrs. M.L. Shakespeare Friday evening enroute to her home in Hastings, Neb. Miss Kil linger, a graduate of Hastings college, has been teaching in the high school for the past two years. • * * The T. F. club met Tuesday, Aug. 9, with a well planned picnic at Pioneers park, for members, their families and guests. The group re ported an excellent time. * * * Mrs. Clyde Coulter has re turned from Kansas City, Mo.. having gone to visit Mrs. Zelma Dave, who had been quite ill. # • * Cecil Coulter, son of Mr. Clyde Coulter, is visiting his father and Mrs. Coulter. Mr. Coulter has a total disability discharge from the coast guard. * * • It was a combined business and pleasure trip for the John Millers Wednesday. They motored to Omaha to be the dinner guests of Mrs. Maria Chadler and daughter ■ Mrs Eugenia Chue, from Wash-1 ington. D. C. Mr Miller was busy ! booking games for the Lincoln j Merchants’ at Omaha and Ash land. Monroe is preparing to attend the National Baptist Convention to be held in California. Mt. Zion Baptist church, which he pastors, has given him a month's vacation with pay. * » * Mrs. Mary Adams, who has been visiting with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. Tapp and family, left Monday for home in Nebraska City. Neb. • * • Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Adams and family are making plans to leave on their vacation the 20th of this month. Donna Marie Washington, Samuel H. Wyatt Married The First Presbyterian church in Beatrice, Neb., was the scene July 31, of the marriage of Miss Donna Marie Washington, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis P. Wash ington and Samuel H. Wyatt, son of Mrs. Thomas H. Wyatt and the late Dr. Wyatt of Austin, Tex. Dr. Ross McCowan performed the 4:30 p. m. ceremony. Pink and white gladiouses and ferns decorated the altar. The bride wore a street length frock of delicate French chif fon. The skirt waist bodice was tucked and had short cuffed < sleeves and tiny collar. The full flowing skirt had floating over- j panels. She wore a pale pink hat and gloves and a corsage of pink gladioluses. A reception for 90 guests was ' held in the church parlor. Re freshment were served from a lace covered serving table. A ' tiered wedding cake formed the centerpiece. The cake was cut by the bride and groom. Mmes. J. B. Bonds, George Ran- ( dol and J. H. Dean presided at the table. Others assisting were Mmes. They will attend New York ; university this falL Mrs. Wyatt will work on her masters degree in music, while Mr. Wyatt will work cm his doctor of philosophy degree Mrs. Wyatt is a graduate of Drake university, where she was a member of the Collegiate Who’s . TAC Maurice Crouch is back in the city again after spending several days in St. Joseph, Mo., visiting friends and relatives. TAC Jeanne Malone was in the city over the week end. Jeanne is working in Omaha and will con tinue to do so until the 1st of September. She was dressed real sharp as always. TAC Howard Garr of Palmary a, Mo., was in the city over the week end visiting Joyce Wil liams and many other friends. While in the city a four-some con sisting of Joyce Williams, Dor othy Greene, Richard Holcomb and Howard Garr went sight-see ing to the beach and other inter esting places. TAC I would like to hear from any teen (age ranging from 13-16) who is interested in volunteering to be my assistant in reporting the many happenings of that age group. If you are interested write me at 2221 S street for more in formation. If you write, give me such information as to what things you like to do and the clubs and church to which you belong. TAC Phyllis Holcomb was in the city over the week end; it seems that Omaha has attracted a num ber of our teens. She has been in Omaha for several days and re turned Sunday evening. TAC Charlene Colbert left Saturday evening to visit her sister in Des Moines, Iowa. TAC Robbie Powell accompanied her sister, Freddie to Omaha Fri day morning. She returned the same evening. Ilrevy Millet IIhim 2-1051 I ( L _ _ _ 1 Here’s the gulden In all its glory: corn on the cob, glossy egg plant, and all the delicious things that make a good tossed salad. They look pretty In the garden, and evert more handsome on the platter. Eggplant Stuffed. 2 small or 1 large eggplant 2 onions, chopped fine 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons chopped parsley 1 pound ground beef Salt and pepper to taste 1 egg. beaten H cup grated cheese 2 tablespoons milk Cut eggplant lengthwise, and scoop out pulp from the center. Saute the onions in butter, add the pulp of the eggplant, parsley, and then the meat. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Simmer about 10 minutes. Stuff the eggplant shells with the mix ture. cover and bake in a mod erate oven (350®) for 30-35 min utes. Mix egg, cheese and milk, and season with a dash of salt and pepper. When eggplant is cooked, remove from the oven, and cover each one with the cheese mixture. Place under the broiler and brown. Serves six. Tossed Salad and Tomato Soup Dressing. Break a head of lettuce in pieces and slice a Chinese Cab bage. Place above ingredients in salad bowl which has been rubbed with clove of garlic. Vegetables should not be cut too fine. Serves 6 to 8 people. Icebox Dessert. Cut Vi lb. marshmallows in pieces. Pour over them 1 Vi cups hot milk and stir well; then add Vi cup dates cut and Vi cup chop ped nuts. Then add 2 Vi cups graham cracker crumbs. Mix thorough ly. Place in loaf pan. Let stand 12 hours in ice box. Slice and serve with whipped cream. , Deaths HOWAKU—Mrs Martha Jane Howard, 65, of 239 So. 20th died Saturday. Sur viving are her stepson.
