A. E. SIMMS Alfred E. Sfmms of 1947 S St., is pictured leaving Burlington train No. 6 for the last time Thurs day morning, June 30 after serv ing 40 years as a chair car porter. Mr. Simms retired July 1. Many commendation and testi monials have been graciously ex tended Mr. Simms by his many friends and various churches which he has been privileged to serve during his railroad career. Compliments from Conductor and Mrs. Clyde E. Edwards of McCook, Neb., were extended in in form of the following written and beautifully framed by Mrs. Edwards. You have sold your last pillow And made your last run; You are done with time tables On the Burlington, You are finished with people Who travel by train. With their mouths full of questions To weary your brain. You won't have to keep smiling And get five-cent tips, After straining to carry And fetch heavy grips. Put your uniform Jacket And cap on a nail— Settle back on your porch with Your feet on the rail. You have been a good porter, Your record is Clear, May your pension bring pleasure For many a year. —Leta M. Edwards. Fronj Quinn Chapel A.M.E.
