Mrs. Viola McDaniels and John Burden both of Omaha spent a few days following Memorial day with Mrs. Dovie Boyd. 1836 No. 23rd St. C: a|i Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Botts and their two sons spent several days visiting Mr. Botts’ brother in Horton, Kans. They returned by way of White Cloud, Kans. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Botts of Glenwood, la., spent several days visiting Mr. Botts’ daughter, Mrs. Virgil Botts and Mr. Botts and his son, Raymond and family. * * t Mrs. Thelma Green, teacher in St. Joseph. Mo., spent the week end with friends and relatives. She was accompanied here by her father, Amos T. Walker, a retired professor who met with his claSs of 1899 at the Univer sity of Nebraska. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stith and the Rev. and Mrs. Merle Stith. The Stith brothers are nephews of Mr. Walker. t * * * Mrs. Joseph Jefferson and daughter, Michelle of Washing ton, D. C., are visiting Mrs. Jef ferson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hanceford Beard. They are spending about ten days. * * * Mr. and Mrs. John Miller who has just returned from, a visit in St. Louis reported that their nephew. Walter W. Fox, jr., has improved after being hospitalized for several days. * * * Arthur McWilliams spent Sun day in St. Joseph, Mo., and at- j tended services at Bethel A.M.E. church in Elwood. Kans., where the Rev. M. L. Shakespeare is the pastor. * * c The Memorial Day picnic held at Antelope park was reported as one of the best for many years. Esther Day service held at Newman Methodist church Sun- i day afternoon by Amaranth chapter O.E.S. was very impres sive. The Rev. Trago McWil liams, jr., pastor of Christ Tem ple Church of Christ (Holiness) preached the sermon and re marks were given by the Rev. William A. Greene, pastor of,the church. A number of vocal and instrumental selections were well received. Miss Frances Lewis is worthy matron and Miss Evelyn Edward was in charge of the program. *■ «= * Mr and Mrs. C. O. Shepherd are the proud parents of a baby boy born Thursday, June 2 at St Elizabeth hospital. * * c Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bradley and Mr. and Mrs. Estelle Powell were visitors in Omaha and at tended Memorial service at Salem Baptist church on Sunday, May 29. They were dinner guests of Mr. Bradley’s uncle, Mr. E. Cooper and Mrs. Cooper. * s> * The T. F. club held its regular meeting with Mrs. Ada Robin son as hostess. Mrs. Lillian Brad ley is reporter. * * * Mrs. Lenora Letcher attended the graduating exercises of her j daughter, Doris Roberts. Mrs. Letcher will spend a week with ' her mother, Mrs. E. B. Penning ton of Quindaro, Kans. She is 1 accompanied by her daughter Willene. * * * In a brief but dynamic dis course, Oscar Harriot, junior at the University of Nebraska de fined “True Success” Sunday evening at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. church to an attentive audience who listened to the first all request program given by the Crusaders club. * * * Mrs. Sue Harrison of Chicago, was a house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Cooke for the Me morial holidays. * * * Sunday morning a cosmopoli tan group of students were on the bridle path at Pioneers park. There were Willis Palmer, Oma ha; Claude Sasonne, France; Stanley Cooke and Charles Goolsby, Lincoln; Walter Bern ard, Switzerland; Florentine Crawford, Omaha; and Louis Cuesta, Puerto Rico. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brame and daughter Jackie of Rockford, 111., spent the holiday week end with Mr. Brame’s mother, Mrs. Ed Todd and Mr. Todd. Ramona is from Sedalia, Mo. ft *f $ Miss Martha Jean Hammonds of Omaha, Neb., was in the city Saturday. She came in the in terest of The Voice Nursing Schol arship. She spent the afternoon with Freddie Powell and myself. She is a very nice girl and I hope she will be able to come to Lin coln again soon so some of you teens can get to know her. # $ * Graduation exercises for Lin coln High school were held June 8th. Six of our teen agers re ceived that precious piece of paper. They were Hazel Wilson, Phyllis Holcomb. Lois Hatcher, Elbert Starks, Nate Casteel and Lester Napue. Good luck, kids. * * * The Klique Klub will have its second annual Formal Lawn Party, June 20th. It is going to be a very exclusive invitational affair, so you boys that are in vited had better start scouting around and get you a girl that has been invited, before it is too late and her answer will be, “T already have a date.” =1= * * Summer is here and school is over for three months and Lincoln has begun to lose part of its popu lation. Among those leaving are Delores Wightman, Florentine Crawford and Curtis Buster, all of Omaha. We really miss you people. Miss Roberts who is the daughter of Mrs. Lenora .Roberts Letcher, 2014 S Street, plans to enter the University of Nebraska in September. She is interested in all phases of sewing, having completed a course at R. T. Cole Vocational school in Kansas City, Mo. After her degree she will specialize in dress designing.
