Politicos Make Last Bid For Election... So much attention has been focused on the Presidential candidates recently, that we think it a good time to review some of the other important offices to be filled at election. Gubernatorial Race —Courtesy The Lincoln Journal. GOV. VAL PETERSON Above is Gov. Val Peterson who has led us through the past two years. His administration has seen reform in the Board of Control, $21 million spent on road construction and mainte nance, the establishment of a long-range building program for state institutions. The weak FEPC bill (LB 421—1947) failed to pass in the last legislature. He recognizes the importance of Ne gro history in Nebraska and fa vors the rights of labor. —Courtesy The Lincoln Journal. FRANK SORRELL Frank Sorrell is the Democrats choice for Governor. His plat form calls for better manage ment of the state’s funds, greater aid to schools, reduction of the gasoline taxes, an increase in permanent roads and the return of many properties to the tax rolls. He would accept cut in pay as governor in order to help state’s institutions. Too bad, but we can’t call him a liberal. One of his two “liberal” ballots in the 80th Con gress was in favor of a steam plant for the TV A. His position on civil rights is not clear. Voice Readers need very little introduction to Mr. Carpenter. He of course, is sympathetic to the Dixiecrat cause and opposes the civil rights proposals, integration of Negroes in the Armed Forces and other points on the National Democratic platform. However, he would favor lowering prices. A self-made man, but not too good a job. GELMOUR-DANIELSON DRUG CO. Prescription Uruggitts 142 So. 13th St., Lincoln, Nebr. PHONE 2-1246 !
