' BEAUTY and FASHION HINTS Ann Watson Smitherman HATS: American & Paris Styles Having never liked hats very much, I suppose I can’t say too much about them; but knowing that one is not well dressed with out a hat or head piece, I decided' to probe into the matter a little. From the American point of view, hats are small and sets on the back of the head with most of the interest in the back. Love ly bunches of flowers or beauti ful satin or velvet ribbons or bows decorates the back. Even poke bonnets with all their splen W der are in style. Gloves, ascot, and head pieces to match are also popular, and very stunning, most of these are easily made. In spite of the great American designers, Paris designers tend to oppose them somewhat with their hat styles—their hats are wide—styled so as to demand a hair style that covers the ears. They are pretty and quite differ ent. Paris also has small hats; tiny pill boxes tied on with bands of tulle or chiffon. I shall mention the names of a few designers as it might help you when you go to buy a hat— f American designers, Lilly Dache, John Frederics, Madame Reine, and Hattie Carnegie. Paris de signers, Henri Bendel, Paulette, Maud et Nano, and Aubry. Mrs. Odessa Wilson was a pa tient at St. Elizabeth Hospital with a throat infection. Mr. A. E. Simms left for his vacation. He will visit Denver, Colorado and Chicago, Illinois be fore returning. Rev. and Mrs. B. T. McDaniels were guests at a District Sunday School Meeting in Omaha on April 17th.
