Monday—Isaiah 48: 22 Tuesday—Acts 3: 19 Wednesday—I Cor. 14: 40 - Thursday—Eph. 4: 29 Friday—I John 3: 20 Saturday—Psalm 62: 6 Mrs. J. Alton Greene St. Louis, Missouri Sunday School Lesson By Rev. R. E. Handy Subject: “The Good Shepherd” Scripture Text: John 10 Memory Verse: “I am the good shepherd: The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10: 11 The Lesson down to date Sheep are among the most help less and defenseless of God’s creatures. They must be led to pasture and water. They must be tended when sick, they must be defended from predatory ani mals. A shepherd learns to love his defenseless charges and will often give his life for their pro tection. Many of our greatest Bible characters were shepherds. Jesus Christ looked upon the world and saw His Father’s chil dren wandering about as sheep without a shepherd. He also saw the devil snaring men and wo men right and left, and His heart was moved with compassion. So He came to earth as one of the lowliest of them. Owning no home, not a square foot of land, yet with clarion call He declares: I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth His life for the sheep.” “Good” not only in His per sonal life, but also in providing j pasturage for His own. “The Lord is my shepherd. Daily He gives me my bread. I drink from the fountain that never runs dry. He prepares a table full of good things in the presence of mine enemies, and I have a home on high.” To make all this possible it was necessary that He give His life for me. He was rejected by the very men he came to rescue. Why not take Him fo^ your shepherd today? Just now, right where you are, say within your own heart. Here Jesus, mold my life, let me be one of your fol lowers. He is willing, and will lead you into green pastures and beside the still waters. He truly is a Good Shepherd. -o_ THIS IS MY COMMUNITY! HOW CAN I IMPROVE IT? Mrs. Alberta J. Cooke There are a number of boys ! and girls interested in the Cam era Club which Mr. George Randol has consented to give in structions for; also the bowling team. What is needed now is an adult to assume responsibility for the organization. An hour or two each week would be ample time. Parents, won’t you contact some interest ed person for this? To be able to receive instruc tions from an artist with Mr. Randol’s. ability is an enviable privilege. I should like to en courage each of you to visit the “Rose Manor Studio” which he operates. You will be delighted with the beauty of his portraits. The City of Lincoln is made richer by this contribution to its commercial and cultural life. -o In thinking of persons who seem to be different from our selves there is always a tendency to judge the whole group by some one individual, who, in many in stances, may not be representa tive of the best elements of the group.
